How to Know if Bacteria is in Your Products

01/30/11

Where there is bacteria there is usually free radicals as well. Both bacteria and free radicals are not something you want to clean your face or put make-up on with. However, most people do.

In order to know if your products contain bacteria you must know if they meet pharmaceutical standards or not.

95% of skin care lines DO NOT meet pharmaceutical standards. That means they have between 5 and 30% of bacteria in them. Companies can not market them in stores if they have more than 30%. That is disgusting!!! Just to wash our face in 5% of bacteria is nasty! Bacteria is the number one cause of acne. The free radicals that must come with such pour production processes are not good for someone's skin long term.

When I was in college I struggled with acne and used many different products to help me. Little did I know I was "cleaning" my skin with bacteria that was probably a major source of my problem in the first place. Free radicals can also increase the aging process. Of course, this is something that skin care lines wont share with you.

Curious to know which skin care lines meet these precious standards? I'm going to have to let you do your own research on that. But, I can tell you if you purchased your products in a convenience store of any kind then your chances of them not meeting these standards have greatly increased. Since Pharmaceutical standards pertains to the quality upheld while testing, batching, and shipping products I can share with you that companies that don't meet them choose not to for cost reasons. In other words, the cheaper the product the greater your risk.

I consider skin care an investment in myself. Looking for instant satisfaction is just as important as long term prevention in my book.

I can share with you that Artistry is the 2nd top leading brand in the world and among the 5% that DOES meet pharmaceutical standards. In fact, we have less than .01% bacteria in our skin care line and our make-up line. Just something I like to brag about.

I hope this has helped you in understanding what quality products can help you achieve.
I wish you many blessings and a happy face:)

Choosing the Right Eye Creme for You

 01/23/11

There is a link to a video featuring our 2011 Miss America preliminaries at the bottom of this entree! It's pretty awesome.

Choosing an eye creme can be really tricky. Eye cremes from different brands have different ingredients. You have your own concerns about your eyes, whatever they may be, and you want to pick a creme that will treat that skin accordingly.

I always say when I'm analyzing a new person's skin that the skin around your eyes is as fragile as an onion layer. It's actually one of the only areas on our body that doesn't have oil glands. Because of that, the constant pulling, dabbing, tugging, and rubbing we do around our eyes wears at the collagen and elastin in the skin. This is why women tend to show the first signs of aging around their eyes.

Dark circles happen for different reasons. Dehydration is a big one (drink lots of water to help with this). It can also be because the blood circulation isn't flowing so well. Lack of sleep is another reason. Dark circles can happen to anyone as young as 14. If you are a young lady and are showing dark circles, I would recommend an eye cream because ignoring your circles and just leaving your eyes dry can cause wrinkles in women as young as 23-25. Eye creme treats skin, but it is also a wonderful preventive of fine lines and wrinkles. I myself started wearing eye creme at the age of 23 but wish I had started at at least 16. My skin type is dry and the fine lines have regrettable started to show their ugly face. I personally know this would be different if I had started proper skin care and eye cream at a younger age.

I found a list on an Artistry Blog that matches ingredients to treatments and thought I would share them with you for you 411. These are ingredients that other brands might use, but Artistry has found to work well. They also are extracted from nature (since Artistry is an organic line). If your main concern is to...

-Reduce puffiness – then use ingredients such as Caffeine, Green tea, Eyeseryl
-Treat Dryness – Hyaluronic Acid, Cermides and Glycerin treat dryness
-Wrinkles and loss of firmness – Peptides, Vitamin C and E, Retinol (be careful with this ingredient if you are sensitive in this area) and Alpha Hydroxy Acids
-Dark circles – Licorice root extract, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Marine Botanicals, Caffeine, Green tea, White Birch extract

Don’t think you have to choose a different eye creme to treat each issue because many ingredients will treat more than one concern.

I hope you have found this helpful in choosing an eye cream. I personally believe every women should put creme on there eyes at least once a day.

Remember to dab you eye creme around your eye on that occipital bone. Your eyes don't need any extra wear and tear :) If it's an Artistry product then your skin will absorb it right into your eye lids. No rubbing is necessary :)

Artistry has 2 amazing eye cremes that I have found to work wonders on myself and on clients.

Beautiful from the Inside Out

Hi Ladies!!
If you are receiving this message it's because you and I have somehow in someway gotten together in the past to talk about your skin. In an effort to better serve my family, friends, and beloved clients, I have decided to post a blog once a week and send it to you for your reading pleasure.

I have learned a lot in the past 2 1/2 years. Being affiliated with Artistry skin care and cosmetics and becoming a certified skin analysis has really helped me with my own personal skin care needs. The information that I will be sending you will be from my training and from information that I receive and find valuable for others to know. It could be anything from Make-up tips, battling acne, skin health, to dry lips. Please feel free to respond to the email if ever you need to get in touch with me. I hope you find this blog helpful. The following is my very first Beauty Blog sent to you from me :) Enjoy!!

Beautiful from the Inside Out
01/16/11

Every person is vulnerable! All that stands between the environment and our internal organs is our precious skin. Skin is our largest organ and it is absolutely fascinating! It is so important and necessary to protect our skin daily by wearing the proper clothing and also by applying the appropriate lotions and serums to maintain it's health and beauty.

Beautiful skin is obtainable when healthy skin is at the starting point. Did you know that the top layer of the skin (what skin products are actually treating) is only about 10% of the actual thickness of your skin (the epidermis)? It's the deeper Dermis ,or live skin, that you find blood vessels, nerve endings, collagen and elastin in. It's what gives the top layer it's appearance and structure. It's constantly attacked by free radicals in the foods we eat, our stress levels, and what our skin absorbs.

Healthy skin requires treatment from the inside as well as the outside with anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and hydrating ingredients.

To get the protection our skin needs from free radicals, look for products with a wide variety of anti-oxidants (examples: vitamins A,B,E and grape seed extract). To control inflammation that can cause redness, look for anti-inflammatory ingredients such as zinc, aloe, and chamomile. If you are looking or moisture retention and the improvement of fine lines then you would want ingredients with fatty acids and amino acids such as L-Cysteine and Glycine.

The ingredients listed above can be found in topical skin care products as well as in nutritional supplements offered through Artistry and Nutrilite.

I hope you have a little bit more of an understanding of skin's needs. Skin is very complex and my hope is that through education women everywhere can achieve healthier skin.
