Regular exposure to the sun or to a tanning bed adds 17 years to your skin's age. It also dry's out your skin, burns and damages your skin, and it runs a high risk of causing Melanoma or other types of skin cancer. If your looking for a summer tan I recommend self tanners (or spray on tans).
First, to create a summer time glow you want to moisturize daily and exfoliate regularly. Exfoliate by using a body scrub or a loofah to remove the dull and dead skin cells that prevent your skin from glowing. Great products like Artistry essentials Polishing Scrub or Artistry essentials Alpha Hydroxy Serum Plus work very well. Moisturize after exfoliating to keep your newly exposed skin from drying out too quickly.
Next, create and keep your tan by using a self tanner. Choose a shade (usually in a choice of light, medium or dark) that closely matches the tan you have. To prevent streaking, self tanners work best on freshly exfoliated and moisturized skin.
The advice when applying self tanner on your face is much the same. There are moisturizers and self tanners specifically formulated for the face. However, I never tan my face. I choose to go one shade darker in my foundation along with a bronzer to create a summer glow.
Last but not least, remember your sun screen and apply often. Choose a moisturizing product that already contains SPF like any of the Artistry moisturizers for the face. It’s the easiest way to keep your skin happy and healthy all summer long.
Happy tanning,
Jennifer
