Let's Talk Mascara
If your lashes have ever been clumpy or flaky, the highest probability for the cause is that your lashes weren't 100% clean before you put your mascara on. So, when you're taking off your make-up, make sure your lashes are clean.
I have been told by a professional that the best way to take off your mascara is to use a cotton pad (or cotton ball) and to saturate it with either warm water (for regular mascara) or make-up remover (waterproof mascara). I actually step it up a notch and use a antibacterial bar of soap to take off all my make-up. Something about killing bacteria on my skin just makes me happy. But, the cotton pad helps me to make sure my mascara is actually off because I can see if it's clean or not. Rest the pad against the lashes for several seconds and then sweep the pad down then again going sideways. Remember to be gentle around your eyes because that skin is very fragile.
Look at your lashes and decide what kind of formula you need or want to use. Do you need length, volume, or do they need to be curled so you can see them?
Decide what formula you need to use and don't be afraid to use different formulas at the same time. You don't have to choose between longer, thicker, waterproof or not.
Curl your lashes BEFORE putting on mascara!! Or else you'll loose some lashes.
Once you've chosen your formulas, place the brush of the mascara wand close to the line of your lashes and wiggle the brush back and forth then pull towards the tips. This helps to separate the lashes and to get complete coverage. Don't be afraid to REPEAT this step until you get the effect you want. (using different formulas if needed). Finish one eye completely before you go onto the next. If mascara dries between coats you'll get clumping.
If people are mixing formulas it's good to start with lengthening, add volume, then finish with a single coat of waterproof.
If your trying to line your eyes and not just lengthening your lashes, then use the darkest black you can find.
Also, a little blue mascara applied to the tips of the lashes will help the whites of your eyes to look whiter and will give your eyes a sparkle.
Hope you can use some of these tips.
Blessings,
Jennifer
