Breaking Out while feeling dry? Looking a little dull? Seems to come from no where?
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
I do pretty well on water. It's my main choice of drink. However, today I learned that because of my size and my workout routine I'm only drinking 1/3 of my recommended intake. I need to be drinking 7 bottles of water a day (wow!)
In other words, try drinking more water if you're having changes in your skin. I promise it will help. It's the absolute best way to purify you and hydrate the skin. When your skin has more moisture your natural exfoliation process is healthier. Dehydration can cause your skin to look dull and the dead and dry skin cells can block pores and cause breakouts.
You also want to exfoliate, but not to much. Exfoliating even every other day in the winter (pr any time) can be damaging to your skin. Give your skin some time to recover (every 3 or 4 days). Over exfoliating can dehydrate your lovely skin and cause damage. The more you rub the more you wrinkle! If your not exfoliating at all that could also be your problem. A balance amount of exfoliation and water is really great and needed to help keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

5 Skin Tips for Fall
Fall is wonderful!! Cool air, the colors, warming fires, and comfort food.
However, that cool air can be damaging to skin. Cracked lips, itchy skin, and that overall dry feeling are sometimes uncomfortable components of cooler weather. I have some suggestions for maintaining that glowing supple skin we all long for year round!
Just adding moisturizer to dry dehydrated skin soothes the skin, but it doesn't heal it. Notice that the dry feeling comes back? The goal should be to keep the moisture inside the skin.
A couple of suggestions:
1. Avoid scolding hot water when cleansing the skin.
The hot water minimizes moisture in the skin. Lukewarm temperature is healthier.
2. Moisturize after washing your hands and bathing.
It takes extra time to do this, but applying moisturizer to slightly damp skin locks the water inside creating a moisture barrier. It also helps the moisturizer to penetrate deeper because your pores are open.
3.Exfoliate
Moisturizer is much more effective on freshly exfoliated skin. Removing a dead skin layer insures better absorption from your hydrating products. Don't over exfoliate -the hot water will dry you out even more. Scrubbing down a few times a week, allowing time for skin to regrow, will be enough (depending on skin type).
4.Skip the harsh soaps
Use a cleanser with a creamy consistency and moisturizing ingredients. I have a few in mind if you need examples ;)
5. Drink lots of water.
Being hydrated from the inside out always helps the skin maintain moisture longer.
Remember that lotions don't often absorb as well as moisturizers, so pay attention to what you're using as well.
Hope this helps. My skin type is dry, so I personally live by these suggestions.

Consistancy with Skincare
It's extremely important to be consistent with your skin care routine. Your skin will reflect how consistent you are and will "fight" you when you're not. Remember that skin is our largest organ and it needs the vitamins and minerals on a consistent basis just like the rest of our body. So, yes eat your fruits and veggies but that only reflects 10% of our skin's appearance. A quality skin care routine results in about 90% of our skin's health.
It is recommended to clean your skin twice a day, morning and night. But, do you understand why????
It's important to wash our face at night because we need to wash off the day. Free radicals in the air, make up, smoke, dirt, and excess oil is sitting on your skin and it will affect it if it's not washed off. It's also important to clean your face at night because our body heals itself when we are sleeping. If your skin is dirty it can not "fix" itself or heal itself properly.
There are several reason's to wash your face in the morning too. When we are sleeping we are laying our faces on things that might not be the cleanest. Pillows are covered with anything from drool, runny noses, eye crud, dirt, oils from our hair, free radicals and dust that land on our pillows and bed sheets. Most people don't go to bed after taking a shower either. So, unless you change your sheets everyday, then we are sleeping on things that can affect our skin. Wake up and wash it off! You also should have a clean face before putting makeup on.
Also, remember to be consistent with what your cleaning your face with! Changing up your routine to have healthier skin is good. However, once you find a quality system then you need to stick with it for at least 3-4 weeks to determine if it's the right one! Then, once you've decided it's working well with your skin, stick with it and don't change anything for awhile. Skin care systems have different formulas, ingredients, ph balances, ect. Your skin will adjust during the first 4 week period, but will begin to show rapid improvement after that (if it's a good skin care system that is). You also need one that's meant for your skin type. If anyone has any questions about skin type or wants to know what yours is then email or facebook me. I'm happy to be of service.
Have a healthy day!

Chemical Peel???!!!!
The main idea of a chemical peel is to take off several layers of skin to reveal younger, healthier, smoother, skin. It is advertised to help with acne and acne scars as well. Let me give you the real info...
A chemical peel is done with actual chemicals. It's extremely abrasive, which is why it's done in a clinical setting. It needs a neutralizer to be put on to "turn off" the chemicals and to keep them from burning your face off. The problem with this is that the neutralizer can be put on to soon (not getting all the skin you wanted off) or to late, which often results in burns and major damage. I've heard some gory details to say the least.
No matter when the neutralizer is put on your still going to have to go straight home and stay there for awhile. Skin actually sloths off for at least a day and the new skin exposed is more susceptible to infection.
Chemical peels are also extremely expensive. Usually about $100 a piece. Often the dermatologist wants you to come in for about 3 painful treatments.
I found an awesome product invented and made by Artistry that is an amazing alternative to a chemical peel. It's called Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel.
I'm so excited to share this with you! It's not a chemical peel, but an enzyme peel. It NATURALLY resurfaces skin without the harsh chemicals. The formula uses a self-adjusting mushroom enzyme that adapts to the skin's pH and knows precisely when to turn itself off.
It works in 8 minutes and the directions that come with the peel are wonderful. Over time, fine lines and age spots begin to fade, pores are minimized and firmness increases.
There's no irritation and no burning! Also, your skin doesn't continue to sloth off. It's not even painful!
Another amazing aspect of this product is that it gives you several applications (at least 8) and it's only 100 bucks. So, about $13 for something you would pay $100 for at the dermatologist office. It's also so gentle that you can treat your skin every 3 days or so. I decided to use this product before I shared it with you and I fell in love!! I've always wanted to try a chemical peel, especially while struggling with acne in college, but I'm so glad I found this product first.
Oh, IT'S ALSO A MISS AMERICA FAVORITE!!!!
If you have any questions feel free to email or message me.

When Do Beauty Products Expire?
A few years ago and especially when I was a teenager, I would collect different beauty products. I'd try one, then decide to try another. I would never throw anything away so the collection kept adding up. The thought would keep running across my mind that "I might have a need for this later", so back on the shelf it would go. Now I stick with the Artistry line, but old products have a way of sticking around so I thought I'd give some advice on what you should keep and what really needs to be thrown away. This is great advice for any skin care and cosmetic line.
Products don't last forever, especially if they are the healthier products that have live cultures in them (like the natural plant and fruit extracts in Artistry products). In fact, the longer a product lasts on the shelves, the more potential for bacteria growth. This can lead to infections or skin irritations on your eyes or face if the product is used past it's shelf life.
The following are life spans of different products.
Find out when to discard your makeup and skin care items.
*Powder, Shadows, Blush: 2-3 years
*Foundation, Moisturizers, Serums: 1 year
*Mascara, Eyeliner, Liquid or Gel Liner: 3-6 months
*Lipstick, Gloss, Lip Pencil: 2-3 years
*Makeup Brushes: I recommend cleaning weekly with a gentle soap and air drying
To keep your makeup fresh and in good condition:
*Store in a dark cool place (not in a car)
*Wash your hands before application
*Secure tops and lids on tight
*Avoid sharing with others
*Always dispose of if you have an eye infection
*If your cosmetics have a funny smell, change in color or texture, or just look different all together, get rid of them. Using clean fresh cosmetics is your best bet and you’ll get the most out of your products!
I hope this helped with your cabinet space and with the life of your products.
Have a healthy day!
Blessings,
Jennifer

What Breakouts Could be Telling you...
Hey ladies and gents. This is an awesome article about breakouts and what could be causing them that a fellow skin analyst wrote. She's actually really more of a skin expert :) My rare breakouts happen on my chin. After reading this article I made a personal connection. I've taken a genetics test were the results told me I shouldn't have much meat at all. Only 15% of my diet should be protein. In fact, my body would really respond to a vegetarian diet very well (I don't see that happening). Remember, 90% of your skin's health is external. That means 10% is internal. That 10% makes a big difference in how you feel about your skin's looks. This article just proved to me my test results and helped me focus better on what I put in my body. Everyone is different but I for one will be eating less meat with a more organic selection. Have a Healthy Day!
Blessings,
Jennifer
What Breakouts Could be Telling you...
By: Emily Friar
Did you know that the random patch of blemishes that pops up on your face when you least expect it can actually be telling you something about your health and eating habits?
Pinpointing the common areas you seem to get these blemishes can help you rearrange your diet and lifestyle to fight them in the future.
*Do you get them between your eyes and right above your nose? This may be a sign that your liver needs a break from it’s daily toxins. If you are a meal on the go kind of person, try giving your prepackaged and non organic meals the boot. Load up on foods such as cruciferous vegetables (i.e. broccoli, cabbage, kale), red grapes, garlic, onions and berries.
*Do you break out on your forehead? Your small intestine may be trying to tell you something. Try slowing down during meals to help yourself digest properly.
*Do you get blemishes near the sides of your nose right before the apples of your cheeks? This may also be telling you that what you are putting in your stomach isn’t working. Try cleaning up your diet. What is a clean diet? Foods free of artificial preservatives, coloring, irradiation, synthetic pesticides, fungicides, ripening agents, fumigants, drug residues and growth hormones and those that are processed, packaged, transported and stored to retain maximum nutritional value.
*Last but not least, do you get breakouts on your chin? This may be a sign that your endorcrine system is distressed. Try limiting your meat intake and indulge in some other protein rich, and non hormone treated, foods. Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, plastics, detergents, perfume, heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium), and preservatives can also disrupt your endocrine system.
I guess it’s true - you are what you eat! What you put in your body can improve your health both inside and out.
